The Usual Suspects

I was not surprised by any of this — here’s a US map of presidential winners by county. Note: it may look like more red than blue, but note all the metropolitan areas and how they voted. My county in Florida, Seminole, went for McCain by a slender margin, but Orange County, where the city of Orlando is located, went for Obama by a larger margin. And as for the county of my birth, Miami-Dade, it and the two other counties that make up the “Tri-County Area” are solid blue. I have no particular beef I want to express in posting this, I just like maps. (Note: it’s in the Washington Post, so YMMV, caveat lector, etc.)

The county where I was born (Hill) went blue, but 2 counties down Hwy 2 (Phillips), which I think of as my second home, went red – McCain took 67%. Hill has University of Montana~Northern, which I hope explains it…plus, these are dyed in the wool, cradle to grave since Reconstruction Democrats. Three of us came to our senses in our 20’s & 30’s, the others just got more rabid.

And of course, Duval County went for McCain, but the Northside is vehemently Democrat. Broad across the street is bound to lose her ‘O’ sign soon, dontchathink?

I’d worry if she starts to put flowers and candles in front of it.

That should be “Three out of 13 of us cousins.” Must be close to bedtime.

Their first sign was for Barr, so maybe she won’t be worshipping, but thanks – I hadn’t thought of that!
