Yep, when I read about that “hoax” (oh, ha ha, I’m dyin’ laffin’) 3 quadrillion dollar lawsuit against the government for Katrina damages the experience pretty much obliterated the last scraps of sympathy I had for the poor, victimized, struggling citizens of New Orleans.
Vanderleun’s screed has attracted some resident NOLA hysterics, who are hamming it up with the “shame on yous” and “we don’t need your money anyway, it’s the gummint’s faults.” My two favorite comments so far are from “GentillyGirl,” who hits every demographic cliché in one of her rants, wherein she “thanks Goddess” that “My Betty and I will have our home” — which she claims is now on a 9 foot elevation and can withstand 350 mph winds (oh bullshit, no building on earth can withstand winds of that speed) while being completely “Green”; and one from “Michael,” who compares the numbnuts who refused to get out of the city when there was plenty of warning to Jesus letting himself be crucified. America! The citizens of New Orleans are soaking you for your sins!

We had some “refugees” from Louisiana & Mississippi come to town shortly after the Summer of the Hurricanes. A couple have decided to stay…& work. They got jobs, apartments, cars…amazing how that worked. I got the impression they were kind of embarrassed at the spectacle the Victims are making of themselves. Know where to find “sympathy” in this house – it’s between sh*t & syphilis in the dictionary.

I’ve seen 300-mph-plus winds. (Oklahoma City tornadoes, 3 May 1999, top of the F5 scale – 333 mph. And I, like a maroon, went outside to watch.) Nothing stands up to that, believe me.

Turning your back on the truth does not make it a lie. To this day AMERICANS are suffering in the Gulf South. Ignore it. It says more about yor character (or lack there of) than anything else.

And for the most part, they brought their sufferings on themselves. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and have been through several hurricanes and I have never seen the level of post-hurricane whining and poor-mouthing as I have seen coming from too many of the denizens of New Orleans. Never mind that the rest of the “Gulf South” (aka the coasts of Mississippi and Alabama) got hit much harder by Katrina — you don’t hear them bitching and moaning. The fact that you went to the trouble of signing up to my blog so you could add to the volume of useless whinging says more about your character (or lack thereof) than anything else.

In other words “They deserved it.” Is that what you are saying Andrea? It makes quite a convenient point to turn your back on your fellow Americans. As to Mississippi, you picked the wrong argument because that is where my personal experience comes from. My 81 year old mother lives a block from the beach in Pass Christian, MS. I suppose she deserved it for living there too. I spent Christmas with her and her friends, which included 2 men that were at the invasion of Okinawa and a P-52 pilot from the Europeon theater. The town they live in TO THIS DAY consists of slabs, tents and trailers. You don’t hear complaining because you don’t hear ANYTHING from them. They are very disapppointed in this country and worry what kind of country their grandchildren will live in. And for your information, asking for help for American citizens when see them hurting is not whining. It is called citizenship.

Here is another perso you lost your last thread of sympathy for. I just met him last week. He lost a home and 2 businesses in the federal flood. He deserved it also I guess.

Ah. I see. You’re accusing me of saying things I didn’t because you obviously can’t read. What part of “the rest of the “Gulf South” (aka the coasts of Mississippi and Alabama) got hit much harder by Katrina — you don’t hear them bitching and moaning” didn’t you understand? I’m talking about the whiners and con-artists in NEW ORLEANS, which according to the last time I checked was located in Louisiana, not Mississippi.
I’m revoking your membership. I have neither the time to spend nor the interest in responding to people who don’t read what I wrote before hitting the “submit comment” button. By the way, if your grandmother knew what you did right here she’d probably be embarrassed. Stop embarrassing your grandmother.
