Rent is paid! Rent is paid! Rent is paid! I took the money order to the apartment manager today.
Gasp.
Okay, now to find a real job. No call from Walmart yet telling me when I can start. The problem with this city isn’t just the fact that after you appear on the doorsteps of people who have put ads in Careerbuilder asking for applicants they stare at you when you say “I’m here about the job” as if you were a two-headed green Martian (when everyone knows Martians aren’t green), it’s the fact that when you do finally go through all the paperwork and pee-in-a-cup hurdles they take forever to actually give you a date when you are to start working. What up, O-town? At this point I’m just doing it so I can show apartment leasing offices that I’m employed, because I’ve got to be out of here by May 3rd. One step forward, two steps back?
Anyway — all complaining aside, thank you everyone.

Happy for you, Andrea.. glad one main worry is off your mind for now. PIA on the job front, makes you feel like you are merely a number, not a person. What are the plans May 3rd? Same area/city? Cheaper digs? Are there better employment ops elsewhere in the state? Other options to rent? Mobile Homes?
Anyway, good luck, L’ll stay tuned..

Same area — definitely cheaper digs. I lived once in a mobile home and didn’t like it, and they are tornado magnets anyway. I’m looking for a studio or a small efficiency. Well, my one bedroom isn’t exactly large, but it’s way overpriced.
I don’t know if there are better employment opportunities anywhere else in the state. I refuse to move back to South Florida, and I don’t like Tampa. Jacksonville and the Panhandle are unknown quantities. I keep saying I’ll move out of Florida but the right opportunity never presents itself. When I had the money I didn’t have a car (or a driver’s license); I used most of the money to set my driving record right so now I have a license and car but not enough money. Problems, problems!

Ain’t it always the way. I live in a double wide, but no tornadoes here.. forgot about them. Sounds like a loft or studio would suit you just fine, good luck on the hunt.
Look on the bright side I guess, at least you have mobility, and freedom to go anywhere you want.
Hope you hear from the job shortly.
