Their willful ignorance is going to get us killed.
Update: nobody said a word about how I misspelled "ignorance" as "ingorance" and didn't catch it until now. Maybe I should apply a stylesheet that has a larger font.

More seriously, I have lurked around "moderate" Muslim sites. I found that they are serious left-wingers and are always going on about "right-wing Christians". But yet they leave the impression that they are somewhat socially conservative. So I think, what attracts these people to the left?
The obvious answer is that Democrats are completely anti-defense. If you were a Muslim who dreamed of an Islamic States of America ruled by Sharia rather than the Constitution, wouldn't you align yourself with those trying to weaken the defenses of this country?
(Sorry for the long comments -- maybe I should start blogging again...)

People seem to forget, but communist countries are all socially conservative countries. Those dowdy dresses weren't just due to the dreary aesthetic taste resulting from collectivism. And they ban rock and jazz music, and other "decadent" pursuits. Freedom of behavior in the arts and in social relations leads to the desire for freedom in other areas. That's one reason why so many people who a scant ten years ago would describe themselves as "liberal" and even "progressive" now find themselves on the rightwing side of the camp.

It was P.J. O'Rourke who observed that in totalitarian states, everything not forbidden was compulsory.
Lefties and Islamists have similar ideologies, although they may couch them in different terms. Lefties want to squelch debate, behavior, and even thought they disagree with because it's "hateful." Islamists want to do it because it's haram. Further, they boith are afflicted with "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" thinking, which leads them into a marriage of convenience.
