I went to the Indian restaurant across the street for dinner. A couple next to me had their cell phone on so their relatives in Southern California could call them with updates on their situation.
The samosas were good, but the lamb biryani lacked something.

A good number of my friends in Poway evacuated...pictures my friend Fred sends are so sad...but no loss of life. My heart aches for all of them, quite glad I'm no longer living there. This is the 2nd fire in 4 years that's gotten mighty close to where we lived.
If I've ever eaten Indian food, I don't remember it...never was very fond of curry, but if you have a suggestion of something to try, I'd appreciate it.

I love curry, but if you're not into that you could try tandoori dishes. This is meat or vegetables that have been marinated in a yogurt and spice mixture and then baked in a special clay oven -- no heavy sauces. It doesn't necessarily have to be hot spicy either. (Avoid things labeled "vindaloo" -- that usually indicates an extra hot dish.)

It also indicates, where you may spend your evening.
