Slow news week/the war is boring controversy: a Catholic Church document states that Protestants are still not Catholic, and for some reason Protestants are angry about it. So what was the whole point of that whole Reformation thing then?
(Via Kathy Shaidle. Also, join the battle here. Remember: it's no fun unless blood is drawn. Or something like that.)

I've never understood the Protestant animus in this case. Presumably they broke away from Rome because they thought Rome was getting something wrong and that they themselves were getting it right. So why should they care? Eastern Orthodoxy would call me a schismatic and Islam of course would call me not only an infidel but a slut, but I don't lie awake at night worrying about it.

As a Protestant (and a Lutheran one, no less), I can't understand what all the fuss and offense is about, either. Although I don't agree with the Pope, I know he was not saying that non-Catholics aren't really Christians or don't go to Heaven.
My conservative Lutheran church also believes in the Real Presence in Holy Communion. The Catholics don't believe we have it...that only they have it. That is why the Pope says that only the Catholic Church has the fullness of Christian faith. In my heart I believe this is in error. However, it would be pointless of me to resent Catholics or the Pope for their beliefs.
I hate seeing all of the anti-Catholic bigotry being stirred up by that stupid WND poll and by the media's reporting on the Pope's document. I think all Christians have one important thing in common and we should concentrate on that.

This reminds me of the Shock And Horror about the Pope being Catholic when he was chosen.
